I hope this finds you well. I’ve been using the last couple of winter months to get healthy and write as much as I can. As we move into March, I’m coming up on a string of exciting shows with my band (currently known as Jonny Tobin – the one man band). I’d love to spend any and/or all of these evenings with you.
We’ve got a big one on March 7th at Seattle’s Sunset Tavern, opening for the local 9-piece juggernaut, Lindstrom and The Limit. Aaron, who leads the band, was the first friend I made in Seattle—a friendship that bloomed not long after he found my passport lying unattended in the back of a chocolate shop. Nothing like the fear of illegal border crossings to solidify a friendship.
On top of our own set, I’ll be getting on stage with Aaron and the band to sing a Peter Gabriel classic. For all of the many years I have loved and admired Peter Gabriel, it astounds me that I’ve never sung anything from his rich songbook. This is going to be a fun night.
Next, I’ll be bringing the duo to Vancouver to play Guilt & Co. in Gastown for an early show on March 27th, 7 to 8 pm. It’s been a while since I’ve played a hometown show. And since the Season 3 finale of Station 234 in the spring of last year, Jonny and I haven’t performed our duo thing here in town. I’m looking forward to doing something big and raucous with the home crowd.
Lastly, we return to our home away from home, Seattle’s Sea Monster Lounge, on March 29th, 8 to 9 pm. This has been one of the most exciting and enlivening spaces to play of late. I am tremendously grateful to all of you who come back each week, and, to those who not only return, but bring new friends each time. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: something special is bubbling at the Sea Monster.
Also, I haven’t forgotten about your song requests! It’s taking me a little longer to get to them this year but I will get to them soon.
And, I’m happy to update all of my paid subscribers with the news that your annual gift is nearly wrapped, tied with a bow and affixed with the appropriate postage! 📨 I’m looking forward to sending these packages out. I’ve added some special surprises for you. 📬
I look forward to seeing you at the next show.
love,
David
